Halifax County Tourism
- Halifax, VA
Welcome to Halifax County Virginia.
We have a great story to share. Whether you seek the excitement of racing, the lessons of history, the beauty of architecture, or the tranquility of open spaces, Halifax County has something to offer. We are home for two outstanding motorsport facilities. Virginia International Raceway, the longest premier road course in America and South Boston Speedway, a NASCAR sanctioned short track, attract thousands of visitors each year.
We also have the story to tell of the role Halifax County played in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War and of all who have given their lives to defend our nation. We have four rivers that run through our county and the fishing is excellent! We have over 800 square miles of land and 7.4 square miles of water. There is the Courthouse in Halifax that was built in 1836 and continues to serve the citizens of this county and is a tremendous resource for genealogy research. There is also the South Boston-Halifax Museum that continually puts together exhibits of the highest quality.
We have downtowns that are preserving their heritage and identities and continue to be major economic centers. We have stories of history, culture, art, families, boating, biking, canoeing, antiques, quaint shops, racing, athletics, State Parks, camping, horseback riding…the list is long, growing and diverse.
