Watermelon Days Festival - Cordele, GA

Cordele has made a name for itself with its Annual Watermelon Days Festival, the oldest in the state of Georgia. People from all over the nation are attracted to this annual celebration during the first two weeks of June.  In 1999, Crisp County celebrated the 50th anniversary of the festival which included fireworks and a huge outdoor concert.  Several years back, Cordele and Crisp County won the title "Watermelon Capital of the World" for producing the sweetest and most abundant watermelon in the nation. For those who are looking for a little more, Cordele-Crisp County offers even more…

If the kid in you craves a playground as big as the all outdoors, then let Crisp County satisfy your sense of adventure. Land a trophy-caliber largemouth bass. Slam-dunk to save the game. Serve an ace to win the tennis championship. Chip your way to a tournament-winning birdie.  Your dreams can come true in Crisp County where all of these opportunities, and many more, are available to you.  Lake Blackshear is the largest recreation facility in Crisp County with 8,700 acres of paradise for fishing, water skiing, and paddling pleasure.

Nearby you can stay and experience Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park encompasing 1,322 acres with two park museums that include exhibits of American war artifacts.  The park also offers tent and RV sites,  rental cottages and group shelters for picnics, reunions or other special gatherings
