Macon Georgia’s Cherry Blossom Festival
The Macon, Georgia Cherry Blossom Festival is one of the top-rated events in the U.S. and one of the top 100 events in North America. Held every March, the International Cherry Blossom Festival is timed to showcase the fragrant, pink blooms of the 275,000 Yoshino cherry trees in Macon, the community the Congressional Record calls the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World. The Macon, Georgia Cherry Blossom Festival was planned as a three-day festival when it made its debut in 1982. It has since bloomed into a 10-day festival filled with hundreds of activities and events, with many more special events scheduled before and after the celebration. Cherry Blossom Festival participants may enjoy dances, concerts, street parties, contests, parades, an arts and crafts festival, a health fair, a marathon, a fashion show, a tour of homes, a hot air balloon show, fireworks and much more.
Originally a project of the Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Commission, the International Cherry Blossom Festival was founded on the guiding principles of "love, beauty and international friendship." More than 700,000 visitors attend the Macon, Georgia Cherry Blossom Festival each year.
