Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of the best-known sporting and entertainment venues in the U.S. As the site of two NASCAR Nextel Cup events - the Golden Corral 500 and the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 - the Atlanta Speedway has attracted many of the finest names in racecar driving, including Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. In addition to the NASCAR Nextel Cup races, Atlanta Motor Speedway also hosts NASCAR's Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series, the Crown Royal International Race of Champions (IROC) Series, and a summer racing series that the whole family can enjoy.
Even when it's not racing weekend, Atlanta Motor Speedway makes a thrilling destination for racing fans. Four racing schools - FastTrack, the Richard Petty Driving Experience, the Buck Baker Racing School and the Speed Tech Auto Racing School - offer fans the chance to experience the excitement of driving on the same 1.54-mile track as their favorite NASCAR drivers. For fans who'd rather not get behind the wheel of a racecar, a tour of the Atlanta Speedway track is the next best thing.
Atlanta Motor Speedway is located about 30 miles outside of Atlanta. The track opened in 1960 but was reconfigured in the late 1990s. The entire complex at the Atlanta Speedway sprawls across 870 acres. Shuttles are available in the parking area for visitors with special needs.
