Historic Bok Sanctuary

The Historic Bok Sanctuary is a haven of beautiful flowers, plant and animal life. The late Pulitzer-prize winner and environmental activist, Edward William Bok, hired renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. to construct gorgeous scenery, "a spot of beauty second to none in the country." And indeed Historic Bok Sanctuary came to be with seasonal blooms of camellias, magnolias and azaleas decorate the sanctuary.

A 205-foot Gothic tower - known as the Singing Tower - stands proudly with its rare carillon bells. It reflects off the Reflection Pool, located at the garden entrance, and presents to visitors what beauty awaits them inside. Visitors to the Historic Bok Sanctuary garden have the opportunity to check out its features such as the "Window by the Pond:" a small wooden building with a picture window so guests can admire the park's native wildlife.

Historic Bok Sanctuary is also a popular family location with its replica carillon bell that weighs over 11 tons; in addition, the original keyboard used at the Singing Tower is on display. The magnificent Mediterranean Revival Pinewood State is open to the public to tour, and guests have the option to walk the Pine Ridge Natural Preserve and Trail - a ¾ mile path containing the endangered Longleaf Pine-Turkey Oak. With rare and abundant beauty at every corner, the Historic Bok Sanctuary is a must-see.
