Ave Maria Grotto
Known as "Jerusalem in Miniature," the Ave Maria Grotto, located on the Alabama Benedictine Abbey grounds, displays 125 scaled-down reproductions of famous holy places and buildings. On this four-acre lot in north Alabama, the Ave Maria Grotto features famous sites of Jerusalem and the Holy Land,
Roman Landmarks - such as the Coliseum and St. Peter's - scenes of Spanish Missions and other religious replicas decorate the hillsides.
The pieces of art at Ave Maria Grotto were symmetrically constructed by a St. Bernard monk, Brother Joseph Zoettl, who used stone and concrete to create the masterpieces. Stop by the Ave Maria Grotto and experience the fine detail and artistic precision in these miniature reproductions.
