Alabama Music Hall of Fame
Contemporary musical history awaits at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. The museum was erected by the Muscle Shoals Music Association to honor music achievers in a variety of genres such as country, R&B and gospel. The Alabama Music Hall of Fame displays artist memorabilia (instruments, stage outfits, gold records), portraits and wax figures.
A tour of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame begins at the Hall of Fame Gallery, containing 32 Inductee paintings by Ronald McDowell (Inductees are chosen annually). The Popular Music area includes Elvis Presley's contract to RCA and actual stage clothes of Jimmy Buffet! A towering guitar-portal leads into the Country Music section of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame where a wax figure of Hank Williams Sr. stands, and the Alabama's Southern Star tour bus resides indefinitely.
That cool, nightclub feel surrounds the Rhythm and Blues section with gold records decorating the wall. The following Alabama Music Hall of Fame Muscle Shoals section is surrounded with artifacts, namely the console Rick Hall used to record Arthur Alexander's number one "You Better Move On." The Gospel Showcase presents notable awards artist such as Jake Hess and The Speer Family. And lastly, record your own personnel cassette from a music track at the Recording Studio right here at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame!
